Develop 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
Haptic curved pad designs and phantom probe housings
Design enclosures, linkages, brackets, and precision components per product requirements .
Ensure manufacturability (DFM) and assembly feasibility (DFA).
2. Mechanical Analysis & Engineering Calculations
Perform structural, kinematic, and dynamic analysis of robot linkages.
Evaluate forces, torques, stiffness, and stress levels for patient-safety-critical components (e.g., pressure actuator limit of 70 N) .
Support FEA simulation (ANSYS/SolidWorks Simulation/ Fusion 360).
3. Prototyping & Testing
Build and validate prototypes
Support integration with sensors and actuators (pressure sensors, motors, IMUs) .
Conduct mechanical endurance, accuracy, and safety tests.
4. Collaboration & System Integration
Work with robotics engineers for inverse kinematics & control compatibility.
Support integration with electronics (motor drivers, power management modules).
Participate in testing of remote control movements, latency behaviour, and safety constraints .
5. Documentation & Compliance
Prepare design documents, test reports, BOMs, and revision histories.
Support engineering documentation
Risk management (ISO 14971)
Maintain clear mechanical safety documentation (collision detection, max-pressure limits, emergency controls) .
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation
B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics / Robotics (or related fields).
Technical Skills
Strong skills in CAD tools: SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / Creo.
Basic understanding of:
Robotics mechanisms
Kinematics & dynamics
Actuators (servo/BLDC) & mechanical drives
Material selection and manufacturing processes
Experience (projects/internships) in:
Robotics / medical devices / automation
Prototype development (3D printing, machining)
Soft Skills
Eagerness to learn medical-device workflows and safety standards.
Strong problem-solving ability, creativity, and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D startup environment.
Preferred (Not Mandatory) Skills
FEA experience
Experience with compliant mechanisms
Knowledge of medical device standards (ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
Hands-on experience with sensors/actuators
Basic understanding of haptic systems
