Responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of static equipment, including pressure vessels and
heat exchangers. This role requires expertise in mechanical strength calculations, compliance with
ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2, API, and TEMA standards, and material selection in line with service fluid
applications. The candidate must have a solid understanding of manufacturing constraints and ensure
design optimization while meeting regulatory and quality standards.
Role & Responsibilities
Design and Engineering:
Perform mechanical design and strength calculations for static equipment using PV Elite software.
Ensure compliance with ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2, API, and TEMA standards.
Select appropriate materials for pressure vessels and heat exchangers based on service fluid application and operating conditions.
Conduct thickness calculations, reinforcement calculations, and stress analysis.
Design nozzles, supports, and other pressure vessel components.
Have practical knowledge of heat exchanger and pressure vessel manufacturing constraints.
Ensure compliance with U Stamp & CE PED certification requirements.
Address technical queries from Authorized Inspectors (AI) and Notified Bodies (NOBO).
Project Management and Coordination:
Lead projects as a Static Equipment Engineer, ensuring proper and timely execution.
Responsible for cost, schedule, quality, and budget control.
Prepare and review all mechanical design documents such as engineering specifications,
mechanical datasheets, requisitions, and vendor evaluations.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, and external agencies for design validation and approvals.
Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines, project management, and client teams.
Participate in department meetings and project reviews, reporting progress, delays, and key technical challenges.
Compliance and Process Optimization:
Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Continuously improve design methodologies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Stay updated with the latest codes, standards, and best practices in static equipment design.
Skill Specification
Strong expertise in mechanical design principles for static equipment.
Proficiency in PV Elite and other mechanical strength calculation software.
Hands-on knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication processes.
Strong understanding of material selection for various service conditions.
Attention to detail with a keen eye for design accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to lead teams and manage projects efficiently.
Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
Knowledge of pressure vessel code clauses related to static equipment components..
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./M.E. Mechanical).
6-8 years of experience in static equipment design, including pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
Strong working knowledge of mechanical strength calculation software (PV Elite, etc.).
Experience in techno-commercial estimations and mechanical specifications.
Prior experience in the heat exchanger and pressure vessel manufacturing industry is required.
