Job Description

1. Mechanical Design & Engineering

Design and select mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, agitators, valves, diffusers, and piping systems. Perform equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and selection based on process and project requirements. Develop mechanical layouts, GA (General Arrangement), and fabrication drawings for tanks, skids, and piping. Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and technical specifications for procurement. Ensure mechanical system design complies with ASME, IS, and ISO standards.

2. Equipment & Vendor Coordination

Review vendor quotations and technical datasheets for mechanical components. Conduct vendor evaluations and coordinate for design approvals and drawings. Ensure mechanical equipment compatibility with process and electrical systems. Inspect fabricated or supplied items for quality compliance before dispatch.

3. CAD & Documentation

Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software. Prepare installation and assembly drawings for equipment and piping. Maintain revision control of design documents and ensure alignment with process P&ID. Prepare O&M and as-built documentation related to mechanical systems.

4. Project & Site Coordination

Support project execution teams during installation, testing, and commissioning. Visit sites to resolve mechanical design issues and ensure as-built compliance. Assist in preparing erection and commissioning procedures for mechanical systems.

5. Tender & Proposal Support

Provide technical inputs for tenders and proposals. Estimate mechanical equipment costs and support techno-commercial bid preparation. Prepare equipment layouts and design concepts for client submissions.

6. Compliance & Quality

Ensure mechanical designs adhere to safety, ergonomics, and environmental standards. Implement standard design practices for energy-efficient and low-maintenance systems. Maintain design records, material certifications, and quality test reports.

Educational & Skill Requirements

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 3-8 years of experience in water/wastewater or process plant design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor. Strong knowledge of pumps, blowers, piping, tanks, and rotating equipment. Understanding of fabrication drawings and installation practices. Good coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
