Job Description

: Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating mechanical systems related to interior projects such as retail stores, corporate offices, commercial spaces, and furniture manufacturing. The role involves creating detailed drawings, ensuring technical accuracy, supporting production teams, and coordinating with architects, designers, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities1. Design & Drafting

Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly layouts for interior projects. Design HVAC, ventilation, plumbing routing, and other mechanical components integrated into interior works. Develop BOQ, BOM, and technical specifications for all mechanical elements. Work on CAD tools (AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Creo / Inventor) to produce precise 2D and 3D designs.

2. Product & Component Development

Design mechanical components for furniture, fixtures, metal structures, joinery, and custom interior elements. Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and aesthetic requirements of the project. Optimize designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.

3. Coordination & Execution

Work closely with interior designers, architects, production, and site teams to understand requirements. Coordinate with vendors and fabrication units to ensure correct interpretation of drawings. Provide technical support during installation and troubleshoot issues on-site if needed.

4. Quality Assurance

Validate designs through calculations, simulations, or tests. Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications. Inspect and approve fabricated mechanical components.

5. Documentation

Maintain drawing records, revision logs, and technical documentation. Prepare manuals, installation guidelines, and project reports as required.

Skills & QualificationsEducational Qualification

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modelling tools. Knowledge of material properties (MS, SS, aluminium, wood, glass, composites). Understanding of HVAC, basic MEP routing, joinery mechanisms & fabrication processes. Experience with BOQ, BOM preparation, and tolerance analysis.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.

Work Experience

2-5 years of experience in Mechanical Design, preferably in

Interior Design, Retail Fit-Outs, Furniture Manufacturing, or Modular Systems
