Job Description


Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 4 to 5 years of relevant industry experience in Aluminum casting design, IP rated enclosure design, electronic enclosure design (plastic, sheet metal, and aluminum), including aluminum die casting/pressure die casting, and related fields. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems, with a specific focus on Aluminum casting design, IP rated enclosure design, electronic enclosure design (including aluminum enclosures for automobile applications), and related areas. Your expertise will contribute to the successful realization of our products, ensuring their optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Responsibilities: Aluminum Casting Design: - Utilize your in-depth knowledge of Aluminum casting processes, including aluminum die casting/pressure die casting, to design and optimize components for casting, ensuring structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and manufacturability. - Conduct feasibility studies, material selection, and process simulations to evaluate and improve casting designs, including for aluminum die casting/pressure die casting. - Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to address casting-related challenges and optimize production processes. IP Rated Enclosure Design: - Design and develop robust and reliable enclosures for electronic systems, considering IP (Ingress Protection) standards to ensure protection against dust, moisture, and other environmental factors. - Conduct detailed analysis and testing to validate the enclosure design\'s performance and compliance with IP ratings. - Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and industrial designers, to integrate components and optimize the overall system design. Electronic Enclosure Design (Plastic, Sheet Metal, and Aluminum): - Design electronic enclosures using plastic, sheet metal, and aluminum materials, considering factors such as functionality, aesthetics, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. - Develop specialized aluminum enclosures for automobile applications, considering automotive-specific requirements such as vibration resistance, impact protection, and electromagnetic compatibility. - Apply design principles and best practices to ensure proper component placement, thermal management, and user interface integration. - Collaborate with suppliers to select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, to produce electronic enclosures. Mechanical Design: - Apply engineering principles and best practices to design mechanical components and systems. - Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and assembly layouts for mechanical designs. - Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis using CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) software (such as Ansys, Ansys Fluent, Abaqus) to validate design concepts, optimize performance, and ensure safety and adherence to relevant standards. -Should have hands on experience on DFMEA, DFA / DFM / DFX, DPA / CAPA -Good knowledge in PLM/ PDM Data management, ECO, ECR, ECN Activities -Responsible for the design and development of mechanical subsystems and assemblies that belongs to the master BOM of the complete system according to fit, form and functional requirements. Collaboration and Documentation: - Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless product development and successful project execution. - Document design specifications, engineering changes, and project progress reports. - Contribute to design reviews and provide technical expertise and recommendations to improve designs and resolve issues. Continuous Improvement: - Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in Aluminum casting, including aluminum die casting/pressure die casting, IP rated enclosure design, electronic enclosure design, and automotive applications. - Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement. - Propose and implement innovative solutions and process improvements to enhance overall product quality and efficiency. Qualifications: - Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. - 4 to 5 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a specific focus on Aluminum casting design, including aluminum die casting/pressure die casting, IP rated enclosure design, electronic enclosure design (plastic, sheet metal, and aluminum), and related fields. - Strong knowledge of Aluminum casting processes, including aluminum die casting/pressure die casting, material selection, gating, reserving, and casting simulation software. - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) for 3D modeling and detailed drawings. - Experience with CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) software for performing engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis. - Familiarity with IP rating standards and design considerations for IP rated enclosures. - Experience with design analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD) and mechanical simulation software. - Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. - Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present design concepts and recommendations. -Candidate should be a self-driven and quick learner. -Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. -Work seamlessly across other functions/ multiple global sites to help meeting the organization goals / objectives.
