To plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective mathematics lessons that align with the Academy's curriculum and learning goals.
To foster a positive learning environment where students develop strong numeracy skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
To monitor and assess students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and guide them toward continuous improvement.
To contribute to the overall academic development of the Academy by participating in curriculum design, policy implementation, and extracurricular academic activities.
Teaching & Learning
Design and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons tailored to the students' age, ability, and curriculum level.
Use a variety of teaching methods (lectures, practical problems, group work, interactive activities) to ensure understanding.
Assessment & Tracking
Use assessment data (quizzes, tests, assignments) to evaluate students' understanding and progress.
Identify students who are struggling and provide additional support or remedial sessions.
Set learning targets and monitor students' achievement against these targets.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
Curriculum Development
Collaborate with other teachers to develop or refine the mathematics curriculum.
Contribute to the creation of teaching resources, assessments, and student support materials.
Stay updated with best practices in mathematics education, pedagogy, and relevant academic research.
Classroom Management
Create a supportive, respectful, and disciplined classroom environment.
Establish clear expectations for student behavior and maintain high standards of academic integrity.
Encourage student participation, critical thinking, and curiosity.
Professional Duties
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
Work collaboratively with peers, academic leaders, and parents to support student learning.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, behavior, and academic goals.
Contribute to the broader life of the Academy through involvement in events, workshops, and extracurricular activities.
Other Responsibilities
Uphold the Academy's mission, vision, and values in all aspects of work.
Ensure compliance with Academy policies (safeguarding, health & safety, data protection).
Be flexible to take on other duties as required (e.g., substitute teaching, mentoring, coaching).
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree (BSc, BMath, or equivalent) in Mathematics, or a related field.
Teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed) or relevant teaching experience.
Strong subject knowledge in mathematics.
Experience (preferred) in teaching students at the relevant level (e.g., secondary school, competitive exam prep).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to design engaging lesson plans and use a variety of teaching strategies.
Patience, empathy, and ability to motivate students.
Organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
Basic proficiency in educational technology (e.g., using digital teaching tools, LMS, presentation software).
