Job Purpose:
A strategic pillar of Smiths Detection's Acceleration Program involves a significant investment in improving Material Master Data quality. To lead this crucial effort within the MDM Team, we are seeking a highly skilled Material Master Data Strategist with a strong focus on Data Quality Management. This expert will partner with the Supply Chain team to thoroughly analyze current material data challenges - such as duplicates, incompleteness, profiling issues, and inconsistencies - and develop a comprehensive roadmap of solutions. This role demands deep domain expertise in ensuring and enhancing the quality of Material Master data to drive strategic business outcomes. To start off with, this role is a temporary one and based on business needs, we can take call in later days.
Duties:
Maintain and optimize Material Master and BOM data* Execute and manage data profiling and quality improvement initiatives* Support configuration and documentation of P2P, STP, ECN, PTM, ITO, and MTE processes* Draft detailed BRDs, SOPs, and functional specifications* Conduct root cause analysis for data issues and process gaps* Collaborate with stakeholders to define Business Rules and workflow enhancements* Provide support during testing, go-live, and hyper care phases* Act as a bridge between business and technical teams for SAP data and process alignment* No job constraints.*

Minimum 5 years of experience in SAP MM/PP modules* In-depth knowledge of material master, BOM, and related SAP integrations* Proficiency in data profiling tools and methods* Strong documentation skills and ability to write BRDs and business process flows* Good understanding of supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement functions* Excellent communication and analytical thinking* Prior experience working in data migration, data governance, or SAP transformation projects is a plus* Material Master Data Management:
Creation, maintenance, standardization, and lifecycle control of materials in SAP Bill of Materials (BOM):
Structuring, maintaining, and updating single/multilevel BOMs across production scenarios Engineering Change Notice (ECN):
Managing controlled change processes for materials and BOMs Procure-to-Pay (P2P) & Source-to-Pay (STP):
Supporting purchasing workflows and vendor integration Inquiry to Order (ITO), Plan to Manufacture (PTM), Make to Execute (MTE): Involvement in end-to-end manufacturing and supply chain flows* Data Profiling & Data Quality Management:
Conducting deep data analysis, identifying data issues, and executing data cleansing and enrichment for materials Business Documentation:
Writing BRDs (Business Requirement Documents), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and functional design specifications Business Rule (BR) Development:
Creating, validating, and managing BRs for automation and data governance Solutioning & Process Understanding:
Working with business users to understand process gaps, proposing solutions, and delivering functional enhancements Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Liaising with stakeholders across procurement, planning, engineering, and IT to align SAP processes with business needs Data Governance & Compliance: Ensuring master data adheres to internal governance policies and audit controls* Testing & UAT Support: Involvement in test case creation, data validation, user training, and deployment assistance*
