About the job:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Master Data Operations Manager to lead our global Master Data Management ( MDM ) operations hub in Hyderabad. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of our critical enterprise master data, spanning customer, product, vendor, finance, etc., across all systems and applications worldwide. The manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the MDM team, commit to the SLAs, adhere to the controls, drive continuous process improvement, and ensure strict compliance with global data governance standards and industry regulations ( GDPR, HIPAA, GxP, etc. ).
The Manager will also oversee the Restricted Party Screening activities to ensure compliance with government trade regulations and prevent Opella from engaging in business with individuals, entities, or countries that pose a threat to national security, foreign policy, or other public interests.
The role will combine people leadership, operations excellence, and strong data governance to drive data quality, service performance, audit readiness, and stakeholder satisfaction across regions and business units.
Main responsibilities:
1. People Leadership and Team Management.
Lead, coach, and develop a team ( including up to 3 - 4 team leads ).
Build succession plans and career pathways.
Define goals, competencies, and learning roadmaps.
Run performance cycles and talent reviews.
Structure workload and coverage ( time zones / shifts ).
Manage capacity and optimize team utilization.
Foster a high?performance, inclusive culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
2. Service Operations and SLAs.
Own day?to?day master data service operations, intake, triage, validation, enrichment, approvals, posting, and monitoring.
Establish and manage SLAs ( turnaround times, first?time?right, backlog, incident response ), publishing weekly scorecards.
Implement tiered support model ( L2 / L3 ), escalation paths, and RACI across functions ( Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, etc. ).
Oversee service tools ( ticketing, workflow, queues, dashboards ) and ensure consistent process adherence.
3. Data Quality.
Manage data issue lifecycle, detection, root cause analysis ( RCA ), corrective actions, and prevention.
Partner with Master Data Global Process Excellence team to align policies, data ownership, decision rights, and approval workflows.
4. Compliance, Risk and Audit.
Maintain audit?ready operations: documentation, control evidence, change logs, access management, and approvals.
Ensure compliance with SOX, GDPR / PDPA, and industry regulations, coordinate with Internal Audit and Risk.
Manage master data controls for segregation of duties, approvals, and sensitive attributes ( e.g. bank details, pricing, etc. ).
5. Process Excellence and Automation.
Map and continuously improve E2E data processes, reducing cycle times and rework, and standardizing global playbooks.
Drive automation and self?service ( workflow, bots, rules engines, APIs ) in data creation and change processes.
Lead / participate in Kaizen events and Lean Six Sigma initiatives, publishing business cases and realizing benefits.
6. Stakeholder Engagement.
Act as the primary operations counterpart for business functions ( Finance, Procurement, Sales, Supply Chain ) and Digital.
Translate business needs into data requirements, prioritizing intake, communicating timelines, risks, and impacts.
7. Technology and Platforms.
Partner with Digital on platform roadmaps, releases, and incident / problem management for MDM / MDG and ERP.
Ensure robust integrations, data lineage, and monitoring across systems ( ERP, CRM, DWH / Analytics ).
Champion tool adoption, workflow, catalog/glossary, quality rules, and stewardship dashboards.
8. Transformation and Projects.
Lead operational readiness for ERP / MDM migrations, new entity rollouts, and large data remediation programs.
Support data cleansing, harmonization, and enrichment for mergers, divestitures, and market launches.
Contribute to enterprise data strategy.

About you:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems / Computer Science, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
8-12+ years in master data / MDM operations, with 3-5+ years leading teams of 15+ ( centralized team and supporting global preferred ).
Hands-on expertise in at least one major ERP / MDM stack ( e.g. SAP MDG / S4, SAP ECC, Informatica, etc. ). Not afraid to get hands dirty. Ability to walk the talk.
Hands-on expertise in at least two of the master data domains.
Proven track record in data quality management, controls / compliance management ( SOX, GDPR / PDPA ), and audit readiness.
Experience running high volume service operations with SLAs, ticketing / workflow tools, and dashboards.
Strong stakeholder management across Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Digital.
Excellent communication skills.
Fluency in English is a must.
Ability to work under pressure is a must.
Strong problem-solving and hands on skills ( investigate requests / problems and recommend solutions to ensure completion of activities within SLA ).
High capacity and willingness to learn about multiple disciplines.
Familiarity with Lean / Kaizen or Six Sigma is preferred with ability to quantify and deliver operational improvements.
Familiarity with Restricted Party Screening process is preferred.
