Job Description

The role is often physically demanding, involving physical labour and creating structures with your hands. A mason may have several roles and responsibilities, including the following:

building structures, such as those used in roofing and framing identifying and repairing compromised portions of concrete structures or bases demolishing, building, or modifying chimneys performing construction duties reading and interpreting blueprints for projects and documentation engaging in concrete finishing using a variety of tools and equipment to build or demolish structures identifying safety hazards and communicating them to the team smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces modifying landscapes using mowing or turf equipment building retaining walls cutting and installing stone structures using saws or other machinery lifting and installing blocks, stones, and bricks restoring existing structures mixing mortar and cement for use painting structures training new employees about workplace safety protocol and best practices cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
