In addition to business development responsibilities, this role also involves gaining a deep understanding of our products and assisting in product testing to help ensure quality and continuous improvement.
ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales
Identify potential leads and target industries through market research.
Develop and execute a strategic outreach plan--including cold calls, follow-ups, and email campaigns--to acquire new clients.
Present and communicate the value proposition of our accounting, payroll, and related services.
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, understanding their needs and aligning our services accordingly.
Attend networking events, industry meetups, and trade shows to expand professional connections.
Marketing & Growth
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective marketing campaigns, sales collateral, and presentations.
Support digital marketing activities, including content development, social media outreach, and lead-generation initiatives.
Monitor competitor activity, industry trends, and market shifts to identify new business opportunities.
Product Knowledge & Testing
Develop a deep understanding of our accounting, payroll, and financial products to more effectively communicate their value to clients.
Assist the product team with user testing, feedback collection, and validation of new features.
Help identify areas for product improvement based on client conversations and market insights.
Reporting & Operations
Track and report sales activities, pipeline progress, and performance against targets.
Maintain accuracy and consistency using CRM systems and sales tools.
Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and a client-first mindset.
Requirements
Proven experience in business development, marketing, or sales--preferably in the accounting, payroll, SaaS, or professional services industry.
Strong cold calling, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical or complex topics clearly.
Familiarity with accounting and payroll concepts (preferred but not required).
Analytical thinker with the ability to identify client needs and align them with solutions.
Comfortable learning new software and participating in product testing.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Experience with CRM tools and sales analytics platforms is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
