Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced procurement leader to head our purchasing function for the Transformer Division. This role is mission-critical to drive cost efficiency, supplier performance, digitized procurement processes, and robust inventory control. It also includes building strategic vendor partnerships and leading a transition toward a lean, tech-driven procurement model.
Top 3 Mission-Critical Outcomes (First 12 Months)
Cost Optimisation & Strategic Sourcing ;
- Achieve 10- 15% cost reduction through vendor consolidation, alternate sourcing, and long-term agreements
- Identify and onboard at least 5 high-quality, cost-effective vendors for critical transformer components
Digitisation & Process Control :
- Implement a digital procurement solution or upgrade the current system for full purchase cycle visibility
- Achieve >95% PO-to-invoice compliance with digitized records
Inventory & Lead Time Optimization :
- Reduce raw material lead time by 25% through better planning and supplier engagement
- Improve inventory turnover ratio by - 30% without disrupting production
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Procurement Leadership: Align procurement strategy with business and production goals; report KPIs directly to the board
- Vendor Development: Build and maintain partnerships with transformer-grade steel suppliers, insulation material vendors, and logistics partners
- Team Management: Lead a team of 5- 7 procurement professionals; train and upskill on negotiation, category management, and compliance
- Tech & Data Systems: Oversee the deployment of procurement dashboards tracking cost, delivery timelines, and vendor performance
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure 100% documentation, adherence to quality norms, and audit readiness
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Finance to forecast demand and control procurement cycles
- Sustainability & Risk Mitigation: Develop sourcing strategies in line with ESG goals. create a risk management framework for procurement
Must-Have Qualifications :
- 12- 18 years of procurement experience in transformer or heavy engineeringmanufacturing setups
- Proven success in cost reduction, vendor development, and digital procurement transformation
- Strong negotiation, data analysis, and supply chain risk mitigation skills
- BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical + MBA/PGDM in Operations/Supply Chain preferred
- Experience handling multi-plant operations and coordinating with senior leadership
Preferred Extras :
- Hands-on experience with transformer component sourcing (CRGO, copper, resin, insulation, etc.)
- ERP/Procurement systems experience (SAP, Oracle, Zoho, etc.)
- Exposure to ISO/quality audits and vendor compliance frameworks
- Ability to represent the company at industry events and vendor expos
