General Summary



To provide high quality underwriting overflow support/ stretch capacity to Multiple RGA business units around the world in a timely and competent manner. Under limited supervision, evaluates and classifies medical, non-medical, and financial risks on complex risks for life insurance in different markets on a range of different benefit types.



Key Responsibility



Appraises and underwrites complex risks for life, critical illness, disability, and health insurance and ensures underwriting offers are consistent with RGA's philosophy, manuals and guidelines. Ensure that casework is completed in a timely and efficient manner, meeting or exceeding agreed turnaround times. Works closely with team members and local offices to be aware of and plan adequately for peak periods. Participates in the development of self and implementation of process improvements that may extend beyond the area of oversight. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external clients and uses effective listening skills to understand their needs. Keeps abreast of new client company or industry products, current developments and changes in medical and financial underwriting practices. Collaborates with Medical Directors, other team members, internal departments and other RGA offices to obtain expert knowledge, to assist in identifying solutions and resolutions to problems/issues identified. Train and get UW& Claims authorities for various markets Provides transient capacity to supported markets as required. Work on Data insights& Analysis with team leads as required Conduct technical training and mentorship as required. Ability to work on software such as Power BI& Power Automate

Education and Experience



Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related work experience (minimum 10 years) with 2-5 years of reinsurance underwriting experience.

Preferred:

Graduate - Science/Medicine/Paramedical or Business ALU, FLMI or FALU accreditation or progress towards accreditation 2-5+ years of reinsurance or 5-10 years of direct underwriting experience Underwriting Exposure to different markets Proficient in Excel, Power BI and Power Automate

Skills and Abilities:

Technical competence with all major life and living benefits. Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions. Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be flexible, creative, self-motivated and ability to work well within a team environment. Sound working knowledge of: Insurance principles, underwriting guidelines, and product features for dealing with risk analysis. Medicine, law, accounting, and finance as applied to the evaluation of life reinsurance risks and of life insurance risks. Ability to work online and to accommodate peers in all time zones Ability to travel occasionally. Past exposure in building or automating any process using Power BI , Power Automate etc

Preferred:

Past exposure to any international markets like US, Middle East, South east Asia, Singapore, Hongkong, South Africa or any other will be an added advantage
