The Production Manager for the Sofa Unit is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure the efficient, high-quality, and timely production of our sofa products. This role requires a strong leader with extensive knowledge of furniture manufacturing, a focus on quality control, and the ability to manage a diverse team. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who can optimize production workflows, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
+ Plan, coordinate, and supervise all daily production activities within the sofa manufacturing unit, including frame building, cutting, sewing, upholstery, and final assembly.
+ Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
+ Monitor and control production processes to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and material shortages.
Team Management & Leadership:
+ Lead, mentor, and train a team of production staff, including supervisors, skilled craftsmen, and assemblers.
+ Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
+ Ensure all staff adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.
+ Manage staffing levels, including hiring, scheduling, and overtime as needed.
Quality & Process Improvement:
+ Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures at every stage of the production process.
+ Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
+ Champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
+ Work closely with the design and R&D teams to ensure new products are manufacturable and meet quality targets.
Inventory & Materials Management:
+ Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials (wood, foam, fabric, springs, etc.).
+ Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock.
+ Minimize material waste and manage scrap rates effectively.
Safety & Compliance:
+ Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety policies and procedures.
+ Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
+ Maintain compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
