Manager, Technology Development Asia Pacific (apacx)

Year    Delhi Gurgaon, Haryana, India

Job Description

This is a key technology role to build and manage Asia Pacific excluding Greater China & Mongolia (APACx) region technology delivery capability. The Manager of Technology Development owns the vendor delivery model for APACx with an initial focus on India Springboard initiatives. The role is hands-on and accountable for sourcing, onboarding, and leading India-based vendor teams to deliver software that meets Hilton engineering standards, while bridging India partnership solutions to global platforms by referencing proven China partnership practices.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important, and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

  • Directly contribute to the codebase by designing, prototyping, and building the most critical and complex components of our partner backend and APIs.
  • Stand up and lead an elite team of developers, deep dive into technical details and write code to unblock complex integration and/or platform challenges.
  • Source, evaluate, and onboard vendor partners, drive SOWs, commercials, and performance SLAs with measurable outcomes.
  • Own day-to-day delivery for India (backlog, sprint execution, release), coordinating closely with Product, partner platform architecture, and global backend teams.
  • Enforce Hilton software engineering standards across code quality, security, testing, documentation, and operational readiness; perform code/design reviews and hands-on coaching.
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, and Compliance to embed PDPA/GDPR/India DPDP controls, secure coding, SAST/DAST, secrets management, and data minimization.
  • Manage capacity planning, forecasting, and vendor throughput; optimize cost-to-serve and productivity.
  • Drive production readiness reviews, playbooks, and on-call rotations with vendors; ensure swift incident response and post-incident learning.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on emerging digital trends and technologies (e.g., AI, Serverless, DevOps, Low-Code/No-Code) and assess their applicability to our goals.
Success measures (first 12 months):
  • Stand up at vendor pod in India with defined governance, meeting throughput and quality targets by Q2 post-hire.
  • Deliver two India Springboard journeys to production on APACx stack, meeting platform SLOs and business KPIs (conversion, enrollments, customer engagement).
  • Reduce partner integration lead time by establishing reusable modules and golden paths; cut onboarding time for new vendor engineers by 30%.
WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 7 years in software development/engineering, including 4 years leading multi-team delivery with vendors or SI partners.
  • Proven experience building and managing India-based vendor engineering teams for customer-facing digital products at scale.
  • Solid technical depth in cloud-native development on AWS and Kubernetes/EKS, microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven integration.
  • Security and privacy by design; familiarity with PDPA (Singapore), GDPR, and India DPDP Act.
  • Hands-on technical leadership, able to roll up sleeves on pipelines, quality gates, and code reviews while orchestrating multiple vendor squads.
  • Proven, recent hands-on expertise in our core stack: e.g., Java/Spring Boot, JavaScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS (Lambda, API Gateway), Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management; clear communicator who can align cross-functional stakeholders across regions and time zones.
  • Builder mentality with operational rigor, balance speed with security, reliability, and documentation.
  • Strong sense of ownership and willing to tackle mundane tasks to get the job done and help the team to succeed.
It would be useful if you have:
  • Domain experience in travel/hospitality, loyalty and personalization, identity, and payments (including UPI).
  • Event-driven architectures (Kafka/MSK/EventBridge), API management (Kong/Apigee/Nginx), secrets management (Vault/Secrets Manager).
  • Familiarity CDPs, and marketing automation across WhatsApp/LINE and regional channels.
  • Exposure to China/India/Japan digital ecosystems, data residency, and localization practices.
