About the Role

Gator Systems Pvt Ltd is looking for a technical expert to lead our Surface Treatment division. This role focuses on delivering high-durability coatings for automotive components. You will oversee both in-house lines and external vendor operations, ensuring that coatings--including

Zinc, Nickel, Tin, Copper, and Lead

--meet rigorous automotive safety and aesthetic standards.

Core Responsibilities

1. Specialized Plating Oversight

Manage and optimize plating processes for

Copper, Tin, Lead, Zinc, and Nickel

, along with other specialty coatings tailored for automotive durability. Ensure all surface treatments meet salt spray resistance, adhesion, and thickness specifications required by Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive OEMs. Develop and maintain

SOPs and Control Plans

that align with automotive quality benchmarks.

2. Quality & Compliance (IATF Standards)

Monitor and maintain chemical bath compositions to ensure consistency in coating quality. Identify and resolve critical defects such as hydrogen embrittlement, blistering, or thickness variations. Define and track KPIs:

Rejection Rates < 1%

, thickness consistency (Cpk), and

Turnaround Time (TAT)

Collaborate with the QC team to ensure all processes are audit-ready for

IATF 16949

or ISO standards.

3. Vendor & Production Integration

Coordinate with external plating partners to ensure they follow Gator Systems' technical specifications and delivery schedules. Work closely with Upstream and Downstream teams to ensure a seamless flow of parts, supporting JIT (Just-In-Time) automotive production cycles. Provide technical leadership in the selection and onboarding of new specialty coating vendors.

Job Requirements

Education:

B.Sc. in Chemistry or B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering / Metallurgy.

Experience:

5+ years in an

Automotive Ancillary

or high-precision industrial plating environment.

Technical Expertise:

Hands-on knowledge of

Zinc (Acid/Alkaline), Bright/Electroless Nickel, Tin-Lead, and Copper

plating.
Familiarity with testing equipment (X-ray thickness gauges, salt spray chambers, and titration labs). Understanding of automotive-specific requirements like

PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

is a strong plus.
