The Manager - Supply Chain & Plant Operations will be responsible for
end-to-end supply chain management and efficient plant operations for the chemical manufacturing facility situated near Biharigarh, Haridwar District, Uttarakhand - around 40 minutes from Dehradun
. The role involves procurement planning, inventory control, production coordination, logistics, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and statutory requirements. The position plays a critical role in optimizing costs, ensuring uninterrupted production, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Management
Plan and manage procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, utilities, and consumables.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, transporters, and service providers.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing working capital and obsolescence.
Coordinate demand forecasting and production planning in alignment with sales and dispatch schedules.
Negotiate commercial terms with vendors to achieve cost efficiency and supply reliability.
Ensure timely inward and outward logistics, including dispatch planning and freight optimization.
Plant Operations
Oversee daily plant operations to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production.
Coordinate with production, quality control, maintenance, and EHS teams.
Ensure adherence to approved production processes, batch plans, and SOPs.
Monitor plant performance metrics such as yield, downtime, capacity utilization, and wastage.
Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, cost reduction, productivity).
Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance planning in coordination with maintenance teams.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety norms, environmental regulations, and statutory requirements.
Coordinate with EHS for implementation of safety systems, audits, and corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to ISO, GMP, and other applicable quality standards.
Support regulatory audits, customer audits, and internal inspections.
Ensure proper documentation for production, inventory, safety, and compliance.
Coordination & Reporting
Act as a bridge between plant, procurement, logistics, sales, and management.
Prepare MIS reports on production, inventory, procurement costs, and plant efficiency.
Identify risks related to supply disruptions or production constraints and proactively mitigate them.
Support management in capacity expansion, vendor development, and operational planning.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics.
Proven ability in procurement, inventory control, and vendor negotiation.
Knowledge of safety, environmental, and statutory compliance for chemical plants.
Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and cross-functional coordination.
Hands-on approach with the ability to work in a plant environment.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Supply Chain or related discipline.
MBA / PG Diploma in Operations or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
8-12 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, with exposure to both plant operations and supply chain.
Prior experience in managing procurement, logistics, and plant coordination is essential.
