The Opportunity:
The Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for setting direction and leadership to development teams, working on medium to large scale global projects. She/he will be responsible for People management, project delivery, managing risks and mitigation.
This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and \xe2\x80\x9chands-on\xe2\x80\x9d product development skills. She/He must have strong technical background, and proficient in motivating and leading the team, through vision, strategic positioning, and leadership characteristics. She/He must be highly energetic and passionate about delivery; define goals, objectives and measurements for the teams, track performance and show continuous improvement. She/he will provide mentoring and coaching for the team to develop an iterative, continuous approach to feature delivery.

You are good at:

  • Helps team achieve sprint/release goals while partnering with the Product Manager on overall business goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure plans & resources are coordinated, and project deliverables are well defined, scoped and achieved.
  • Deliver assigned projects on time, budget and agreed quality standards.
  • Facilitate planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Provide guidance, technical feedback and ensure release goal is achieved.
  • Provide visibility to team impediments/risks and help eliminate them.
  • Provide resource forecasting and optimize usage of resources.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely reporting.
  • Manage communication cross-functionally and escalate promptly when issues arise.
  • Ensure Team development and career progression.
  • Align with internal development process and improve the in-house methodology and delivery processes.
  • Provide guidance, technical feedback and ensure project delivery success.
  • Help the team to be innovative and improve things
  • Be part of organization-wide initiatives and drive the changes.
What it takes:
  • Minimum BE CS or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of industry engineering experience, with at least 4 years in a management or project management position
  • Must have hands on experience in Systems-level engineering with emphasis on application and communications architectures, data management, and low-level application infrastructure.
  • Must have experience in building mission-critical, highly available, systems-level application infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of successful project/program management of mid to large size projects
  • Agile project management experience is a must.
  • Excellent communication and people skill required.
  • Ability to organize, plan and create a team environment where everyone in the team can perform at their best.
  • Ability to serve as a technical leader and mentor at an architectural and coding level to the team.
  • Effective facilitation skills for participatory decision making.
  • Should have good understanding of tools related to CI-CD / DevOps.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles, Agile methodologies.
  • Exposure or knowledge on IBM Mainframe application and systems architecture, COBOL development, and DB2 database technologies will be an advantage.
  • Exposure or knowledge on cloud infrastructure technologies such as RESTful Web Services, Redis, PostgreSQL will be an advantage.
