The Cloud Platform Engineering Site Reliability Engineer team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions\xe2\x80\x99 public, and hybrid cloud-based solutions for public safety customers.

This team is part of Motorola Solutions\xe2\x80\x99 Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure to build at scale.



The Cloud Platform Engineering team Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for:

Design and implementation of the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline into multiple public cloud regions.

Development and operation of common platform services that can be leveraged by our solutions moving forward.

Overall reliability and security of these services and the environments they are run in

Monitoring and support for these platform and infrastructure services, as well as metrics collection and reporting related to them

As a Manager, Software Engineering on this team, you will be responsible to lead the team for developing services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions\' engineering teams as well as deliver solutions to our customers. You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for automation, deployment processes and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions\xe2\x80\x99 Software Enterprise organization.

Basic Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Lead the team to define scope, design, and development of custom software solutions that save lives (literally).

\xc2\xb7 Lead the team in building automation tools and services to minimize delivery time and increase developer productivity.

\xc2\xb7 Lead the team in defining and meeting scalability, availability, security, and performance goals

\xc2\xb7 Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards

\xc2\xb7 Assist with supporting Production systems (includes troubleshooting issues and aiming to resolution)

\xc2\xb7 Understand complex technical details and build test methodologies for them

\xc2\xb7 On-call work is occasionally required for services developed by the team

Qualifications:

BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent degree) with 4+ years of professional software development

Experience as a team lead or manager leading development work by example

Familiarity with modern development operations tooling (Trace based application performance monitoring, docker containers, and similar)

A working understanding of at least one server side language (Java preferred)

Experience with development of custom network services (HTTP, WebSockets, or similar)

Experience with web infrastructure and distributed systems; Background on services and cloud computing (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services) a plus

Develop quality scalable, tested and reliable applications using industry best practices

Experience with Java and scripting languages

Working experience with AWS/Azure public cloud services (other are good too)

Have expertise in at least one of the following: API design and development, performance analysis and capacity planning, SQL and NoSQL databases, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and test-driven development (TDD)

Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn, problem solver

Good communication skills (English
