? Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
? 10-15 years of experience in precision machining, preferably with carbon / ceramic
/ non-standard components.
? Strong knowledge of CNC turning, turn-mill, VMC, and lapping processes.
? Exposure to lean manufacturing and ISO/IATF quality systems.
? Proficiency in production planning, manpower management, and MIS reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Control
? Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer orders
and priorities.
? Balance workloads across CNC, turn-mill, VMC, and conventional machines.
? Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) and ensure smooth flow of jobs through all
processes.
? Track and achieve OTD targets for all non-standard parts.
? Analyse machines real time monitoring data and take appropriate actions for the gaps
2. Shop Floor Management
? Supervise machining, lapping, and inspection operations for carbon seal rings
? Allocate manpower efficiently (skilled and semi-skilled operators, setters,
supervisors).
? Troubleshoot machining challenges (e.g., tool wear, antimony sticking, waviness,
chipping).
? Enforce 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards in the machine shop.
3. Quality Assurance
? Coordinate with QA team to ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish
standards (waviness, seal face flatness, two-light-band lapping, etc.).
? Implement in-process inspection and preventive defect detection.
? Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
4. Process & Productivity Improvement
? Optimize CNC programs, tool paths, and cutting parameters for carbon
machining.
? Introduce lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cycle time and scrap.
? Lead Kaizen, SMED, and TPM initiatives to improve machine availability and
throughput.
? Implement capacity planning tools and trackers for load balancing.
5. Team Leadership
? Lead and mentor cell in-charges, shift supervisors, and operators.
? Conduct regular training on new machining methods, inspection techniques, and
safety.
? Build a high-performance team with a culture of accountability and ownership.
6. Coordination & Reporting
? Work closely with Planning, NPD, Maintenance, and Quality departments for
smooth execution.
? Provide daily and weekly production reports (output, OTD, downtime, rejection,
rework).
