About the Role

This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced procurement professional who wants to build, not just manage. As Procurement

Manager at MELA, you will shape sourcing strategy, develop strong supplier partnerships, and influence key commercial decisions during a

critical growth phase. The role offers high ownership and visibility, working closely with senior leadership to build a resilient and scalable

procurement function.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

? Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and growth plans

? Identify, evaluate, and onboard domestic and international suppliers across food product categories

? Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, contracts, quality standards, service levels, and delivery terms

? Drive cost optimization and value creation while maintaining quality, reliability, and compliance

Vendor & Supply Chain Management

? Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and exporters

? Monitor supplier performance against defined KPIs related to quality, timelines, pricing, and compliance

? Manage sourcing risks related to supply disruptions, price volatility, and regional or geopolitical factors

? Ensure continuity of supply through diversified sourcing and contingency planning

Compliance, Quality & Governance

? Ensure adherence to applicable food safety regulations, statutory requirements, and import/export laws

? Work closely with quality, legal, and logistics teams to maintain regulatory and certification compliance

? Establish and enforce SOPs for procurement operations, supplier audits, and quality assurance

? Drive ethical sourcing and responsible procurement practices

Commercial & Financial Management

? Partner with finance teams to develop procurement budgets, cost models, and savings targets

? Track, analyze, and report procurement performance, cost efficiencies, and value realization

? Support margin improvement initiatives through strategic sourcing and supplier optimization

Operational Excellence

? Forecast procurement requirements based on demand plans, sales forecasts, and inventory strategies

? Coordinate with logistics and warehousing teams to ensure smooth inbound supply and inventory flow

? Maintain accurate procurement documentation, MIS, dashboards, and audit-ready records

? Continuously improve procurement processes for efficiency, scalability, and control

Systems & Process Enablement

? Lead implementation and optimization of procurement tools, ERPs, or vendor management systems

? Ensure data integrity, transparency, and strong procurement governance frameworks

? Drive digitization and process improvements aligned with best practices

Leadership & Scale-Up

? Establish procurement policies, processes, and governance structures suitable for a growing organization

? Support business expansion into new product categories, suppliers, and geographies

? Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing procurement team as the organization scales

? Act as a trusted procurement advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Must-Have

? Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement/sourcing

? Strong exposure to food products, FMCG, agri-commodities, or edible goods

? Proven experience in global sourcing and vendor negotiations

? Solid understanding of import/export regulations and food compliance

? Ability to work in a startup / zero-to-one environment

Good to Have

? Experience working with e-commerce or D2C food brands

? Exposure to international suppliers

? ERP or procurement system experience

? Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
