Manager, Plant Engineering for Pulp, Energy & Circularity Business Area (based in Chennai, India)

We are looking for Manager, Plant Engineering to be based in Chennai, India. This position reports to Senior Manager, Global Plant Engineering in Finland. In this position You will lead the Pulp, Energy and Circularity Plant Engineering design team by Planning, Directing and Coordinating a team of Engineers/Designers to carry out engineering activities in Sales, Capital Investment and Service projects.
In this position, you will be required to,
Own the project execution resource management from own area. Proactively develop the competence of the team by identifying future needs and monitoring the existing gaps.
Understand how standardized business processes and way of working are the basis of any performance development. Capable of applying systematic data analysis for various performance issues.
Manage own team effectively, including recruitment, competence management, team's performance and workload. Also handle rewarding issues and planning for succession. Estimate needed engineering hours based on operative KPIs.
Analyze project (Sales, Capital and Service) requirements, resource needs etc. to plan and assess the feasibility of engineering requirements and manage the workflow of the engineering department and subcontractors.
Monitor all the engineering projects and provide effective guidance to the Lead Engineers in resource allocation, technical clarifications etc. Interact with other functions for resolution of technical and contractual issues.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
To succeed this role, you will need:
Relevant Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Engineering
Minimum 15 years' relevant experience in Design department from which minimum 5 years in a people management position
Prior resource management experience from a global engineering project execution environment
Thoroughly understand how business processes are set up and how Daily Management is supported with properly set Operational KPIs. Preferably you are a certified Lean Six Sigma belt.
Understand how systematic data analysis and the common Lean leadership tools are used to improve the ways of working. The capability to interpret the statistical analysis results.
Piping Layout and Detail engineering of Fiber line and Cooking area
Good knowledge of flexibility analysis
Exposure on software like COMOS, M files, AutoCAD, E3D, Navis, Caesar II etc.
Excellent and clear written and spoken communication in English
Knowledge of relevant Technical Codes & Standards (for example ASME and EN)
