Manager, People & Culture

Year    New Delhi, India

Job Description

Wadhwani AI Global is a mission-driven startup bringing cutting-edge AI into the hands of governments and public systems across the Global South. Our work spans AI solutions and embedded advisory across public health, education, and agriculture. We partner with ministries, multilateral organisations, and donors to turn innovation into meaningful public impact.
As the Manager, People & Culture, you will be responsible for building, strengthening, and managing the full employee lifecycle across India and global locations. This role combines strategy, operations, compliance, and culture-building, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment. You will work directly with leadership to design policies, lead talent strategy, manage global compliance requirements, and act as a trusted partner to employees across the organisation.
You will lead end-to-end hiring across India, Africa, LATAM and other geographies, build strong pipelines for technical, advisory and leadership roles, manage international recruitment compliance, and oversee employer branding and candidate experience. You will manage all HR operations including onboarding, documentation, HRIS, payroll inputs, letters, and policy administration, while ensuring statutory compliance for a Private Limited Company (PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, Shops & Establishment, maternity benefits, payment of wages, bonus and gratuity compliance, contract labour regulations, labour law audits and filings). You will work with legal and finance to ensure accurate statutory documentation and maintain secure, audit-ready systems.
You will serve as the POSH Compliance Officer, oversee ICC constitution, training, documentation and annual filing, conduct sensitisation sessions, and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace. You will implement our performance management systems, support OKR setting, quarterly reviews, calibration and evaluation cycles, coordinate appraisal and bonus cycles and salary revisions, and ensure consistent documentation.
You will design and deliver culture and engagement initiatives, feedback and recognition mechanisms, and employee wellbeing programs. You will support leadership in embedding values, principles and performance culture. You will draft and maintain HR policies (leave, travel, compensation and benefits, appraisal, code of conduct, POSH and anti-harassment, global employment guidelines), build SOPs for all HR processes and ensure adherence across the organisation. You will also act as the primary point for employee relations, grievance handling and conflict resolution, providing guidance on performance and workplace norms, while maintaining confidentiality and trust.
We're looking for someone with 8-12 years of experience in HR Generalist or HRBP roles, preferably in fast-growing startups or consulting environments. You should have strong knowledge of Indian labour laws, PF/ESI, POSH and statutory compliance, along with experience in global hiring and managing cross-border HR processes. The role requires high ownership, urgency, emotional intelligence, excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management. Passion for building scalable systems, policies and culture in a mission-driven organisation is a must.
Why join us? You will play a central role in building people processes and culture at a growing, impact-driven PLC, gain exposure to governance and HR best practices in a global context, and be part of a collaborative team where your work contributes directly to organisational growth and employee experience.
