Robinson is seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Manager- Ocean Freight to join our North branch offices in Delhi.As the Manager of Operations for Global Forwarding, you will lead a team focused on managing ocean freight operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across the entire process. In this role, you will be responsible for driving productivity, quality, and world-class service by aligning resources, setting role expectations, and monitoring performance metrics. Your focus will be on continuously evaluating and improving operational processes, including optimizing service levels and cycle times to meet business goals and efficiency targets. You will also oversee a team that may include both individual contributors and other operations leaders.If youre a seasoned ocean freight professional with a passion for driving operational and organizational success we encourage you to apply.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:Leadership:Promote a culture and working environment that embraces growth and development to meet the needs of our employees and customers, resulting in higher employee engagement and overall customer satisfactionInstill professionalism, ensure adherence to policy and procedures, and encourage consistency of processIdentify development opportunities, provide constructive feedback, offer continuous training opportunities for direct line reportsPlay major role in recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of talentProvide individualized coaching plans for direct reports and host semi-annual Talent (performance) reviewsCommunication:Regularly share industry news, department changes, and process updates to departmentDraft client advisories on relevant trade, market, and regulatory updatesProvide guidance to employees on how to respond to challenging customer scenariosStrategy:Maintain monthly balanced scorecard of department performanceLead and participate in pricing and process negotiationsCollaborate with branch leadership teams to deliver effective problem resolution and process improvementSet quantitative, qualitative, and personalized objectives for Department supervisorsDesign, control, and maintain the process for successful service deliveryCustomer Service:Uphold our customer SLA (service level agreements)Serve as a role model in developing relationships with clients, origin counterparts, and destination partners critical to the success of our clients transportation and supply chain systemsUtilize tools to confirm effective process execution and timely, accurate invoicing for services renderedMentor employees to deliver quality business reviewsConduct business reviews and support sales effortsTroubleshoot and design solutions for challenging customer scenariosOperations:Assign and ensure proper setup for new business onboardingMitigate operating expenses by actively managing resources against activity forecastsUtilize operational and financial tools to monitor daily tasks, set priorities, and measure performanceQuickly and effectively resolve issues with airlines, steamship lines, ports/CFS, outside forwarders/brokersMonitor and maintain control over accounts receivable/accounts payableManage and revise best practice and SOP materialsConfirm that the supervisors and operations staff have the tools, time, and support they need to successfully service the customersIdentify opportunities to utilize global operations team to deliver continuous improvement exercises that strengthen the customer relationship and improves efficiencyOther duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirementsQUALIFICATIONS:Required:Min Bachelors degree from an accredited college or universityMinimum 10 years of Global Forwarding Transportation experienceMinimum 3 years of direct people management experienceStrong industry operational excellence experienceAbility to travel up to 10% (domestically and internationally)Strong knowledge of Excel & should be comfortable to work in system driven environmentPreferred:Post Graduation/ Masters in business administration from an accredited college or universityStrong analytical, problem solving and time management skills.Customer focused with proven flexibility & adaptability to product and customer needsHigh emotional intelligence, situational leadership, and coaching techniquesUnderstanding of financial statements and key performance metricsValues a diverse and inclusive work environmentDisclaimer:This job description is intended to generally describe the nature and level of work to be performed by employees in this position.
