Job Summary:
The Manager (O&M) - Material Requirement Planning is responsible for overseeing the material planning and management processes within the Metals & Mining sector, with a focus on the Steel industry and Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) such as excavators. This role involves ensuring the efficient and timely procurement of materials and parts, optimizing inventory levels, and coordinating with various departments to support operations and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Requirement Planning:
Develop and implement material requirement planning (MRP) strategies to ensure the availability of necessary materials and parts for operations and maintenance activities.
Analyze and forecast material needs based on production schedules, maintenance plans, and project requirements.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, spare parts, and consumables to ensure optimal stock levels.
Implement inventory control systems and procedures to minimize waste and reduce holding costs.
Procurement Coordination:
Collaborate with the procurement team to source and purchase materials and parts required for operations and maintenance.
Ensure timely and accurate ordering of materials to prevent any disruptions in production and maintenance schedules.
Supplier Management:
Identify and evaluate suppliers for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions to ensure favorable agreements.
Maintenance Planning:
Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and plan maintenance activities, ensuring that all required materials and parts are available.
Support the development of preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Use MRP software and tools to track and analyze material usage, inventory levels, and procurement activities.
Prepare regular reports on material planning, inventory status, and procurement performance for senior management.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all material planning and procurement activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all operations and maintenance activities adhere to safety standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements in material planning and inventory management.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
