To assist other staff members in ensuring the smooth operation of PETA India's media and celebrity projects

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Pitch PETA India's campaigns and events to the media and make follow-up calls as needed
Coordinate the preparation of news releases and pitches
Enlist celebrity support to advance campaigns and other PETA India initiatives and execute these partnerships and projects end to end, including celebrity shoots and other events Build, maintain and manage all contact databases for the media and celebrity projects team
Manage a calendar of special dates related to media and celebrity projects
Maintain an orderly inventory for media and celebrity project needs
Keep all media and celebrity files and folders in an orderly and accessible condition
Develop target lists for media coverage
Develop strategies for securing media coverage of PETA India's work
Liaise with various staffers of PETA India and its international affiliates regarding the production of print advertisements and video public service announcements
Research celebrity-related news and create and distribute notes to relevant staff members
Research and suggest contacts for photo shoots and other projects
Maintain a collection of news clippings and send them to concerned people in a timely manner
Liaise with PETA US and other PETA affiliates regarding various services relating to media and celebrity projects
Assist in the coordination of photo shoots and other celebrity and media events
Develop and cultivate strong relationships with celebrity and media professionals Participate and give meaningful input at brainstorming meetings regarding media strategy and celebrity involvement
Prepare and maintain meeting notes for the media and celebrity projects team
Serve as a media spokesperson on animal rights issues as required
Lead, mentor, and develop the team by providing strategic direction, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring timely completion of projects through consistent follow-ups and performance oversight. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in public relations or a similar field
Fluent in English and Hindi
Knowledge of other local Indian languages a plus
Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
Demonstrated interest in and excellent working knowledge of the internet
Proven interest in media and celebrity news
Proven excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Sophisticated understanding of and appreciation of creative work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent telephone manner
Self-motivation and the proven ability to work as part of a team
Ability to communicate with a variety of people in a professional and personable manner
Ability to take initiative and follow through
Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally
Support for PETA India's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA India's positions on issues
Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
