Job Overview

TE Connectivity\'s Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

At TE Connectivity, the Manager-Tool Development Team does the following: -
\xe2\x96\xaa Responsible for developing and qualifying Mold tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standard with applied knowledge of mold design and construction for conditioning, modification, repair, and transfer of injection molds and stamping dies.
\xe2\x96\xaa Supports existing and implements new manufacturing technologies and methods to improve process and tolerance control.
\xe2\x96\xaa Documents all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems.
\xe2\x96\xaa Supports Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability, realizes sample tooling, product samples and prototypes.
\xe2\x96\xaa Supports NPI to verify supplier identification and capability with vendor visits.
\xe2\x96\xaa Maintains and adheres to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
\xe2\x96\xaa Provides technical assistance to process development and engineering personnel.
\xe2\x96\xaaHe / She also enables the manufacturing plants and suppliers to implement Centers of Excellence ideas and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP\'s) on mold tool builds, process improvements, and redesign projects.
\xe2\x96\xaa Designs and develops new manufacturing process and applies these to new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.
\xe2\x96\xaa Supports Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planed manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.
\xe2\x96\xaa Support research and development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.
\xe2\x96\xaa Guide the team/leads to fabricate new molds by analyzing drawing prints, sketches, models and or shop specifications and adhering to TE Connectivity\'s EH&S policies and procedures.

ROLE OBJECTIVE

  • Good communication skills. Written and Verbal in English with ability to articulate technical data effectively
  • Has relevant and advanced mold assembly / setup experience
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of molding or other processes within the manufacturing environment
  • Conduct print reviews of design and provide recommendations to improve the molding design/process (2D/QIP/Critical Dimensions), Participate in tool design and product inception reviews
  • Assess and provide risk analysis and risk mitigation for molds and mold processes & Help CFT to resolve product and processing problems.
  • Implement best demonstrated molding practices into new and rebuilt molds
  • Experience in collaborating with global cultures in a project manager led / team environment
  • Work with Global TE Connectivity manufacturing plants and global suppliers to design, build, and condition new molds within budgeted costs
  • Strong understanding of polymer theory, that of engineering grade resins.
  • Reading of specialized reports (scientific and technical conferences, legal)
  • Demonstration of excellent learning agility.
  • Costing for Molds/Dies internally and for publishing target cost for cost evaluation at supplier
  • Able to interpret Mold Flow and Moldex3D results and guide the team for First time Right approach
Provide leadership and manage the complete Tool development life cycle (starting from voice of customer, ideation, Design Conceptualization, Creation of Mold specifications, 3D design, Mould Build, Project Transfer & PPAP till SOP)
  • Executing the global business unit strategy and manage the Indian based tooling development group to meet business unit goals and objectives.
Job Requirement

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
  • BE Mechanical with Tooling background/Post Diploma in Tool Making from NTTF/GTTC/Other reputed institutes.
  • Prior Knowledge of Tooling in 3D software.
  • 12-15 Years of relevant experience. (Preferably from connector/precision mold making industry)
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE
  • 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in automotive connector industry related to new product development and maintenance.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing and assembly techniques (DFMA), design for cost (DFC)
  • Previous experience building and sustaining high-performing multi-disciplinary performing teams.
