About the Role
We are seeking an
Manager - Logistics
to manage and streamline local and international logistics operations for raw materials, components, and finished goods. The role requires strong expertise in import/export processes, transportation coordination, customs documentation, compliance handling, and ensuring timely availability of materials to support production and customer delivery requirements. The ideal candidate must have experience in manufacturing logistics and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders including procurement, production, warehouses, freight forwarders, and transport partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Local & International Logistics Management
o
Manage end-to-end logistics for domestic and global shipments of materials and finished products.
Coordinate with transporters, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and vendors to ensure seamless movement of goods.
Ensure timely dispatches to customers, warehouses, and plant locations.
2. Import & Export Operations
o
Manage complete import and export processes including shipment planning and documentation.
Liaise with customs agents and overseas suppliers for clearance and tracking.
Monitor shipment movement, resolve delays, and ensure on-time delivery to meet production schedules.
3. Documentation Management
Prepare, verify, and maintain accurate logistics & customs documentation including:
Commercial Invoice
Packing List
Bill of Lading / Airway Bill
Certificate of Origin
Delivery Challans & Domestic Transport Documents
Import/Export Declarations
HS Codes & INCOTERMS Documentation
4. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
o
Ensure compliance with DGFT regulations, Customs Act, GST rules, and international trade laws.
Maintain updated knowledge of Incoterms, LC, customs, HS codes, duty drawback, DGFT, insurance, duty structures, and export-import compliance.
Support internal and external logistics, customs, and statutory audits.
5. Coordination & Material Support
o
Collaborate with Procurement, Production, Warehouse/Stores, and Planning teams.
Support material planning by ensuring timely arrival of inbound shipments.
Coordinate with warehouses for GRN, stock confirmation, storage, and dispatch readiness.
6. Logistics Tracking & Reporting
o
Track and monitor shipment status for inbound & outbound logistics.
Maintain records of freight charges, transporter performance, delivery timelines, and logistics KPIs.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly logistics MIS for management.
7. Cost Optimization & Process Improvement
o
Identify opportunities to optimize logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency.
Implement improvements across dispatch planning, route management, freight negotiations, documentation accuracy, and vendor coordination.
Skills & Competencies
o
Strong experience in plant/manufacturing logistics operations
In-depth knowledge of import/export procedures and documentation
o
Good understanding of customs regulations, INCOTERMS, and HS code classification
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/logistics systems (SAP/Oracle preferred)
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making capability
Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and priorities
High attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance-oriented approach
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field (preferred)
4-7+ years of logistics experience in the manufacturing / industrial sector
