Tesco is looking for a commercial contracts lawyer who can support, under guidance, the Group Legal and UK Property teams by undertaking certain aspects of its UK-related non-contentious real estate work.
You will be responsible for
Having undergone our internal induction and training programme covering key UK property legal skills, your role will include: Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a broad range of non-contentious UK property contracts (from the UK legal perspective) including: Leases; Tenancy at Will; License to Assign; License for Alterations; License to Occupy; Rent Deposit Deed; Deed of Variation; Deed of surrender; Non-disclosure Agreement.
Title due diligence and reporting.
Co-ordination with relevant stakeholders within the Tesco Property and Legal teams to ensure that real estate matters are delivered in a timely and appropriately risk-balanced manner, meeting the business need.
Running training for the new joiners
Working collaboratively and leading discussion with our external law firms to share knowledge and best practice, and ensure the efficient delivery of real estate legal services to the business.
Managing and updating Tesco templates and playbooks.
Create strategy to transition more work to TBS.
Downloading Land Registry documents and making Land Registry applications.
- Developing and leading a high performing team, creating an environment for success by setting direction and coaching them to succeed through inspiring conversations every day. (Refer to the expectations of a manager at Tesco- the minimum standards) Initiates and designs continuous improvements initiatives to drive performance within their teams
Accountable for achieving teams objectives, stakeholder management and escalation management.
Making decisions within policy and procedure framework to deliver business plans.
You will need
Lawyer / Law Graduate with strong academic background with 8- 10 years of working experience in skill agnostic legal teams, including in-house teams in an outsourcing setup. Strong background in drafting, negotiating, reviewing and finalizing commercial contracts.
Background in project management, legal services, legal in-sourcing setups.
Extensive knowledge of UK Property Law including strong experience of drafting a variety of complex commercial contracts. Ability to review and negotiate contracts and provide pragmatic and commercial advice.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High emotional and cultural quotient to manage local teams and Group stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, including presentation skills and ability to train resources
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective relationships at all organizational levels across all departments.
