Working at Teach For India

Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Fifteen years into our journey we are a movement of ~5000+ Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. These Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put ~33,500 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have ~1000 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India. Over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board examinations till date, with an impressive 95% pass rate across cities as of November 2024.

the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system and our children

Advocate

for key issues that impact educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement for educational equity

Act

collectively with our Alumni to learn about and address key issues in our regions.

Our work will only be completed when we have built a movement of leaders that is large enough to ensure that every child in India attains an excellent education.

As a Manager, this role will focus on strengthening KER's ecosystem by building multipliers. The work will involve collaborating closely with student leaders from our Alumni Community and other key stakeholders to expand our reach and scale our impact. The role also consists of nurturing leadership, enabling collaboration, and translating shared efforts into meaningful growth for KER.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, at Kids Education Revolution

KER Alumni Movement

End-to-end project management of the Alumni National Committee,

comprising KER Alumni across cohorts, to mobilise, engage, and activate alumni through both virtual and in-person platforms.

Design and implement diverse hackathon formats

in collaboration with Teach For India's Student Alumni Wing, the Alumni Team, and external partners, to engage and activate alumni with an interest in social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Scaling KER's Philosophy and Work

Anchor

external partnerships and support content development and deployment for

KER School

, a WhatsApp chatbot-based learning experience for children, delivered in partnership Liaise with

government bodies and implementation partners to co-design and deploy student governance structures

within school ecosystems, towards strengthening the ideas of partnership and student voice.

Invest in diverse stakeholders

to advocate for student voice, partnership and agency through ElevatED and other opportunities.

Monitoring, evaluation, and documentation

to assess the effectiveness and impact of the project/s. Work closely with the KER team to

design and execute powerful learning experiences like Revolutionary Retreat

for students and educators towards exploring the 3 Principles and 8Cs of KER.

As a Manager at Teach For India

Contributing to

the team goals and priorities

beyond individual goals and priorities. Serving as an

ambassador of the Teach For India brand

and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply. Supporting with key organizational areas such as

Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

4 years of professional experience in teaching or education Ability to work in ambiguous settings with little to no clarity (courage, ownership, initiative and problem solving) Experience in driving operations in high-pressure, goal-driven environments Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent Project, Partnership Management and Organizational skills Orientation towards Innovation (openness, risk taking, embracing failure, resilience, agility) and Scale (strategic thinking, identification of key levers, making bets) Strong goal orientation and ability to meet targets/deadlines
