The EXIM Manager in the metals industry oversees the end-to-end export and import operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, optimizing logistics, and managing cross-functional coordination to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:* Ensure adherence to EXIM policies and procedures, facilitating various licenses and authorizations from DGFT and Customs.
Manage preparation and submission of documentation for EPCG, Advance Authorization, ARO, Invalidation, Revalidation, EOP Extension, and Enhancements.
Coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHA), freight forwarders, and shipping lines for timely customs clearance.
Maintain compliance with statutory obligations, liaising with government departments and regulatory authorities
Logistics & Inventory Management:
Plan and schedule shipments based on buyer's estimated time of arrival (ETA) and estimated time of departure (ETD).
Monitor inventory levels, ensuring adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Prepare work orders based on customer purchase orders and ensure timely dispatch of goods
Financial & Bank Coordination:
Coordinate with banks for payment processing, including TT payments, letter of credit (LC) amendments, and export bill follow-ups.
Manage export-related financial documentation, including export lodgement advice and charge amendments.
Ensure timely payment of customs duties and vendor payments, coordinating with the accounts department.
Reporting & MIS:
Maintain accurate records of all EXIM transactions and prepare monthly and weekly reports on shipment status and inventory levels.
Provide regular updates to management on EXIM operations, highlighting any issues or delays.
Ensure proper filing and documentation of all export and import-related records.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Lead and train a team of EXIM professionals, ensuring effective performance and development.
Coordinate with internal departments such as Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Audit, and Costing to align EXIM operations with business objectives.
Foster a collaborative environment to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
Diploma in EXIM or an MBA is preferred.
Professional Experience:
8-12 years of experience in export-import operations, preferably in the metals or manufacturing industry.
Proven track record in managing EXIM documentation, logistics coordination, and compliance.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
Familiarity with SAP and other ERP systems.
Experience with online portals such as ICEGATE, NSDL, and DGFT for export-import transactions
.
