The Downstream Manager is responsible for overseeing all downstream operations including refining, processing, logistics, distribution, and sales of products. The role ensures efficient, safe, and cost-effective downstream processes that align with company objectives, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Lead all downstream activities including refining, storage, product handling, transportation, and distribution.
Develop and implement downstream strategies to optimize operations and reduce costs.
Ensure production output meets quality and safety standards.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor downstream staff and supervisors.
Oversee workforce planning, training, and performance evaluation.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE):
Enforce compliance with all relevant HSE regulations and internal policies.
Promote a strong safety culture throughout downstream operations.
Supply Chain & Logistics:
Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams for seamless material and product flow.
Optimize inventory levels and warehouse operations.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations:
Interface with key customers and vendors to ensure service levels and resolve operational issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including upstream, sales, and engineering.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for senior management.
Identify process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Regulatory & Compliance:
Ensure all downstream processes comply with legal, regulatory, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.

in a relevant scientific or pharma discipline:
Biotechnology
Biochemistry
Chemical Engineering
Pharmaceutical Sciences
Master's degree (M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Pharm)
in the above fields
Ph.D.
in Bioprocessing or related fields (especially in R&D or highly technical roles)
Experience:
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in downstream operations, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemicals, or manufacturing.
Proven leadership experience managing large teams and complex operations.
Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain tools.
