As a Manager Development (Software Testing), you will lead an engineering team to ensure the highest standards of product quality. This role involves developing and implementing quality engineering strategies, managing quality processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. You will partner closely with Quality Engineers and Software Engineering Managers to help build out test automation solutions, enable continuous testing, enforce quality engineering and agile best practices. You will also be responsible for growing the careers of your team. You will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Role and Responsibilities
Lead a team of quality engineers and software development engineers in test.
Build the quality and automation practices for the team.
Implement process changes to scale testing efforts, including the development of robust automation systems.
Work with different teams (Engineering/PM/Design) to collect necessary information to assure quality coverage, and also provide feedback on quality issues.
Help your team set priorities and remove roadblocks to make sure releases have sufficient testing coverage.
Assess the status of releases and help ensure that releases go out on time with a high quality level.
Lead the process of building metrics to measure and monitor product performance.
Support customer engagement activities, defining the process by which the engineering and quality teams monitor, respond to, and address feedback
Establish quality engineering best practices and standards within the team to drive quality and excellence.
Maximize team velocity by removing barriers and reducing team context-switching.
Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Mentor engineers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers.
Build and mentor the careers of quality professionals, including building skills in automation.
Evangelize the importance of reliability, security, performance, scalability, operational readiness, and managing technical debt to others in the organization.
Stay up to date with technology and industry trends to continually drive innovation in our quality engineering architecture, technology choices, engineering practices, and products.
Job Requirement
BS/MS degree in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of proven quality engineering or software development in test experience with hand-on development of automated tests
2+ years of engineering management experience
Proven strength leading test teams in an agile environment
Strong knowledge of test and tool development methodology
Interpersonal skills, including ability to work with global teams in different geos and cultures
Self-starter with strong time management skills
Experience working with software developers in a rapidly changing environment
Consistent track record delivering on quality goals for complex projects in an Agile development environment
Track record of successfully recruiting, developing, mentoring, and retaining top technical talent
Deep understanding of software testing methodologies with experience developing automation coverage for complex user interfaces
Strong experience with browser, middleware services and backend databases
Experience developing in Java, Selenium, and Rest Assured is a plus
