Key Requirement for the Position

Should be a post Graduate/Graduate with a good command over writing & speaking English Experience of 3-4 years of credit underwriting or similar function like process compliance, internal audit, internal controls, etc Candidates with commerce or finance background will be preferred Working knowledge of computers with good analytical and presentation skills Ability to deal with asymmetric information during credit appraisal Quick learner of new systems / technology Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to confidently interact with Customers / 3rd party / internal or external employees to get the desired resolution

Credit monitoring is a crucial component of the Credit Risk Management function that ensures the desired quality of the portfolio. In Varthana's context, regular monitoring of the schools is essential to confirm that the loan has been used for the intended purpose; report at the earliest any reduction in the enrolment of students, thereby affecting the viability of operations; any changes in the list of trustees or society members; any increase in the overall obligations; reduction in the value of the security provided; etc. that may adversely impact the ability of the school to repay the Varthana loan on time. Monitoring also includes identifying internal errors like calculating income based on erroneous assumptions, improper levels of deviations, not capturing deviations properly, etc. This job is for someone who is very passionate about credit risk management as a function with the objective of improving the performance metrics of the function. The candidate has to have a sound understanding of the credit processes as well as a business sense to identify the key signals. Collaboration and a relationship oriented approach will be crucial to get the right kind of information from the customers and to give feedback to the credit team so that the processes can keep improving on a continuous basis. Ability to work with data and performing basic level of analyses would be highly desirable.
Specific Responsibilities

Create a charter and a roadmap for the monitoring activities for the financial year. Ensure that the monthly goals for client monitoring are achieved in a timely manner. Prepare the regualr reports that become the basis for engaging with respective managers of the credit underwriting team to ensure that errors are minimized and risks are identified at the earliest. * Present reports are regular intervals to the senior management on the findings, action taken, impact of exercise etc
