Job Description

Purpose of the Role
The Senior Manager (SM) - Legal will be responsible for managing the company's legal affairs in relation to the automotive industry. This includes providing legal advice across all business functions, managing litigations, arbitrations, dispute, consumer court matters, customer disputes, etc. and dealing with external counsels when required.
Job Responsibility

  • Litigation/Disputes Management: Handle and oversee all litigations, arbitrations, consumer court matters, including drafting pleadings, managing case filings, and representing the company in legal proceedings. Manage larger corporate litigation and arbitration matters, ensuring effective resolution while protecting the company's interests.
  • Legal Advisory & Strategic Counsel: Provide legal advice and strategic counsel to senior management and various departments on litigation-related matters, including consumer disputes, corporate litigation, and arbitration cases.
  • Coordination with External Counsels: Collaborate with external legal counsels for effective representation in high-stakes litigation and arbitration cases. Ensure timely and efficient communication and management of external legal resources.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential legal risks arising from litigation and arbitration matters. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and safeguard the company's reputation and interests.
  • Dispute Resolution: Lead efforts in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including mediation and arbitration, to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Billing and Invoice Management: ensure that all bills are collected and paid out on time, and maintain detailed records of spends per matter and on an overall basis.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Audits: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to litigation and arbitration matters. Support audits and investigations as required.

Desired Candidate Profile
  • Education: LLB (Mandatory)
  • Experience: 6-10 years of post-qualification experience in a Law Firm / in-house legal role, preferably in the automotive, FMCG, or industries with significant customer interface. Experience in handling voluminous and significant litigation/dispute matters
Skills & Competencies
  • Expertise in litigation strategizing and dispute resolution management.
  • Significant common sense.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior leadership, business teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide practical legal solutions that support business objectives while minimizing legal risks.
  • Organization and management: Excellent transaction/project management and
organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively and a willingness to take ownership and responsibility for own work;
  • The ideal candidate would be a self-starter and be willing to "roll up their sleeves" to adapt to working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
