As an Engineering Manager 2, you are a critical leader responsible for cultivating a high-performing, innovative, and inclusive team of engineers. You will blend deep technical expertise with a passion for people development to deliver mission-critical platform services and delightful customer experiences. You will be a servant leader, empowering your team to operate with speed and quality, while also partnering with product and design leaders to shape the technical strategy and roadmap for your domain. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical guidance, operational excellence, and strategic thinking to drive significant business impact.


Responsibilities

Build and Lead:

Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent, building a diverse and highly skilled team of 8-12+ engineers.

Coach and Mentor:

Provide continuous, constructive feedback, guide career development, and foster an environment of learning and growth for every team member.

Cultivate Culture:

Champion a culture of engineering excellence, customer obsession, and radical accountability. Foster psychological safety where engineers feel empowered to innovate and take calculated risks.

Performance Management:

Set clear goals, manage performance, and recognize and reward outstanding contributions.

Drive Technical Strategy:

Partner with Principal Engineers and Architects to define the technical vision and architecture for your services, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Hands-on Guidance:

Remain close to the technology, participating in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural deep dives to guide your team toward optimal solutions.

Champion Best Practices:

Instill best practices for software development, including modern CI/CD, robust testing methodologies (unit, integration, E2E), and observability.

Manage Technical Debt:

Proactively identify and prioritize the management of technical debt to ensure long-term platform health and agility.

Qualifications


Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a proven track record of shipping high-quality SaaS products. 3+ years of experience in a people management role, leading a team of software engineers. Strong technical foundation in modern software engineering principles, architecture, and design patterns. Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and building distributed, microservices-based systems. Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or Node.js. Deep understanding of Agile development methodologies and experience leading teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
