POSITION: LAB TECHNOLOGIST/TECHNICIAN (Male) REPORT TO: Senior Lab Supervisor/ Supervisor/Senior Lab Technologists/ Manager/Consultants/ HOD & Sr. Manager Clinical Laboratory RESPONSIBILITY v To carry out sample collection v Ensure timely sample collection of both (IP and OP), home blood collection & dispatch of samples and entering of relevant data in the registers v Proper handling, usage and dispose of blood, urine and faeces and other body fluids and tissues and hazardous chemicals in a safe manner v To operate necessary laboratory equipment in Haematology, Clinical pathology, Biochemistry and microbiology and do the maintenance as necessary v Performs quality control checks on instruments and equipments v Performs routine tests such as cell counts, urine analysis and/or other tests like streaking of culture plates and processing of samples in Biochemistry if necessary handling of autoanalysers during night shifts v Documentation and proper maintenance of respective forms and records in different laboratory sections. v Indenting required consumables and maintain the stock registers v Maintains safety, follow all the protocols for the waste segregation and to ensure cleanliness of lab area as per environmental and infection control standards v To support and participate in training and development as required v To be pro-active in continuing professional development PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: +2 with DMLT or B.Sc. MLT or B. Sc paramedical course with DMLT with minimum 1 year experience in a Medical Laboratory JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: \xc2\xa7 Ability to perform sample collection \xc2\xa7 Ability to operate Automated Analyzers \xc2\xa7 Ability to process the samples and record the values \xc2\xa7 Knowledge on QC Levels & Westgard rules \xc2\xa7 Good communication skills \xc2\xa7 To use the Lab information system according to authorised protocols \xc2\xa7 To behave in a professional manner and cooperate with all other members of staff at all times GENERAL TRAINING REQUIREMENT: Awareness about Laboratory accreditation, ISO 15189:2012 - NABL requirements, CAP requirements ANY SPECIFIC TRAINING REQUIREMENT: Basic knowledge computer application like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint CONFIDENTIALITY: Attention is drawn to the confidential aspects of this post.
