To lead the maintenance team during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth functioning of all assembly shop equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting preventive and breakdown maintenance activities to meet production goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of maintenance technicians and electricians during the shift.
Ensure proper manpower allocation for different areas (Trim, Chassis, Final, Sub Assembly, etc.).
Attend daily production meetings and align maintenance priorities with production requirements.
Ensure effective shift handover and reporting.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns on the assembly line.
Coordinate with production for downtime impact and provide estimated time of restoration
Guide team for root cause identification and implementation of quick fixes.
Escalate major issues to higher management and support engineering team in long-term solutions.
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance as per plan, without affecting production targets.
Ensure availability of checklists and proper documentation.
Monitor the performance and reliability of key equipment like: Conveyors, torque tools , Lifting devices, tightening stations, AGVs, Robots, Manipulators etc.
Support continuous improvement activities to reduce breakdown frequency and MTTR.
Ensure critical spare parts availability during the shift.
Maintain control over tool issuance and usage.
Coordinate with stores and planning for spare part consumption and requisition.
Ensure safe maintenance practices during shift activities.
Guide technicians on LOTO procedures, electrical/mechanical isolations, and safe troubleshooting.
Participate in safety audits
Maintain 5S and cleanliness around maintenance areas and service rooms.
Maintain shift-wise breakdown logs, PM records, and call response time sheets.
Report recurring issues and daily performance to the Maintenance In-Charge.
Use CMMS/ERP tools (SAP PM, etc.) for entry of maintenance activities.
Competencies / Skills:
Functional/Technical:
Hands-on experience with assembly equipment like torque tools, conveyors, robots, pneumatic fixtures, filling equipment, Vehicle inspection equipments like Wheel alignment, Side slip tester, brake tester, DSBS, Drum tester, Head lamp tester, Turning tester and emission tester
Basic PLC/HMI and motion drives, VFD knowledge (Mitsubishi,, etc.).
Knowledge of Breakdown Analysis and Autonomous Maintenance support.
Experience with smart factory tools like IoT-based monitoring, MES integration, etc.
Strong problem-solving and leadership skills for shift handling.
