JD:
A Maintenance Manager for Sponge Iron & Billet SMS (Steel Melting Shop) leads all mechanical/electrical maintenance, focusing on uptime, safety, and efficiency for complex equipment like Furnaces, CCMs, and utilities; responsibilities include preventive/predictive maintenance planning (TPM), managing budgets, troubleshooting breakdowns, optimizing spares, leading teams, ensuring safety (LOTO, Hot Metal), driving continuous improvement (yield, energy), and coordinating closely with Production, Quality, and Electrical/Mech teams for flawless casting/melting operations.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations:
Oversee Maintenance:
Lead all running, shutdown, breakdown, and preventive maintenance for Sponge Iron units (DRI Plants) and Steel Melting Shop (SMS) equipment (EAF, LF, CCMs, Utilities).
Downtime Minimization:
Implement TPM/PdM strategies to reduce MTBF/MTTR and enhance equipment performance.
Troubleshooting:
Rapidly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues in production machinery and utilities.
Shutdown Planning:
Develop and execute detailed plans for planned shutdowns (turnarounds).
Strategy & Improvement
Preventive Planning:
Create and manage preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, and spare parts inventory.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive initiatives for yield improvement, energy optimization, refractory life, and process cost reduction (e.g., EAF/CCM parameters).
Capital Projects:
Support technical feasibility studies and implementation of new technologies/upgrades in the SMS.
Safety & Compliance
Safety Culture:
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (LOTO, Hot Metal Handling, PPE, OHSAS/ISO 45001).
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure maintenance activities meet ISO 14001 & 50001 standards.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and ensure audit readiness.
Team & Stakeholder Management
Leadership:
Supervise, motivate, and develop maintenance teams (electricians, mechanical fitters, technicians).
Coordination:
Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Control, Electrical, Instrumentation, and PPC departments for smooth operations.
Reporting:
Provide reports to senior management on budgets, KPIs, and project status.

Maintenance of rotary kilns, coolers, gasifiers, raw material handling.
