: General In-charge / Director - Technical/Operations
Job Summary:
The Maintenance In-charge is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the public transport bus fleet to ensure maximum vehicle availability, efficiency, and safety. The role involves full accountability for the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the maintenance department, including material management (repairable, non-repairable, scrap, and new materials), cost control, and warranty compliance. The In-charge must monitor and optimize key consumption and performance metrics to reduce downtime, minimize operational costs, and maximize reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Planning & Execution
Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of buses.
Ensure availability of spares, tools, and manpower to minimize downtime.
Track vehicle off-road (VOR) incidents and ensure swift resolution.
2. Material Management
Accountable for procurement, usage, and inventory control of:
o Repairable and non-repairable parts
o Scrap disposal
o New materials - verification and quality checks
Ensure compliance with material warranty conditions.
Maintain records of material usage as per job cards and material cost per kilometer.
3. Performance Metrics Monitoring
Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and optimizing the following parameters:

Tyre Run KM, New Tyres Consumed, Rate of New Tyre Consumption per Lakh KM, RTD Tyre Consumed, Rate of RTD Tyre Consumption per Lakh KM
Fuel
CNG Consumed, CNG Average KM per KG
Lubricants & Fluids
Total Engine Oil Consumed, Engine Oil for Top-Up (LTRS), Gear Oil, Coolant Oil, Clutch Oil, Differential Oil, Transmission Oil, Steering Oil, Battery Water
Efficiency
KM per Liter (KPL) for each lubricant and fluid mentioned above
Electricals
Battery Consumption
Breakdowns & Losses
Number of Breakdowns (BD), Breakdown Rate per 10,000 KM, Breakdown Penalty Amount, Infraction Amount, Revenue Loss, Kilometers Cancelled
4. Financial Accountability
? Full ownership of Maintenance Department P&L.
? Optimize cost of spares and services.
? Track and report:
o Cost of Material Consumption
o Material Cost per KM
o Breakdown-related penalties and revenue losses
5. Staff Management
? Lead, train, and motivate the maintenance staff and workshop team.
? Ensure compliance with safety and maintenance SOPs.
6. Reporting & Compliance
? Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on all KPIs listed above.
? Ensure accurate records of all repairs, part replacements, and material usage.
? Liaise with auditors and internal departments to ensure transparency.
Required Qualifications:
? Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering
? Minimum 10+ years of experience in maintenance of commercial vehicles, preferably in public transport or fleet management
? Strong knowledge of automotive systems, inventory controls, and cost analysis.

? Proficient in MS Excel and fleet maintenance software
