Key Responsibilities:
1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
Develop and implement
preventive maintenance schedules
for footwear machinery (cutting, stitching, lasting, sole pressing, moulding, PU/PVC injection machines, compressors, boilers, etc.).
Ensure
minimum machine downtime
through quick breakdown analysis and troubleshooting.
Maintain AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) for specialized equipment.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
Lead a team of
maintenance engineers, technicians, and electricians
.
Allocate daily work, monitor performance, and conduct skill-upgradation training.
Foster a
safety-first culture
on the shop floor.
3. Utilities & Infrastructure
Oversee maintenance of utilities - DG sets, compressors, boilers, HVAC, ETP/STP, water supply, electrical panels.
Ensure uninterrupted availability of power, air, and other utilities critical for footwear production.
4. Inventory & Cost Control
Manage
spares and consumables inventory
to avoid stock-outs while keeping costs under control.
Negotiate with vendors for cost-effective procurement of spare parts and consumables.
5. Process Improvement & Compliance
Identify opportunities for
energy saving and machine efficiency improvement
.
Implement
Kaizen, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and 5S practices
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly maintenance MIS reports.
Coordinate with the Production & Quality teams to align machine readiness with production plans.
Report critical issues to senior management and recommend solutions.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of
footwear machinery & production processes
(cutting, stitching, lasting, sole moulding, injection).
Expertise in
electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
.
Hands-on troubleshooting ability and root cause analysis.
Leadership & team management skills.
Knowledge of
SAP/ERP maintenance modules
is an advantage.
Safety & compliance awareness.
Qualification & Experience:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
3-7 years of experience
in plant/factory maintenance, with at least
2 years in footwear / leather / allied manufacturing industry
