Maintenance Head
Role: Head Maintenance
Reporting to: Vice President / Plant Head
Department: Maintenance (MBD, Foundry & Utilities)
Location: Anand, Gujarat
Experience: 10 20+ years in Maintenance Management within Heavy Engineering / Machine
Building / Foundry / Capital Equipment Manufacturing
Education: Diploma/B.E. / B.Tech Mechanical / Electrical / Production Engineering (MBA /
TPM / Reliability / Six Sigma certification preferred)
ERP & Systems: SAP (PM/MM), MS Office
Role Purpose
The Maintenance Head is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end maintenance
operations for manufacturing facilities, including machine building, foundry, utilities and
infrastructure. The role ensures high equipment availability, cost optimization, statutory
compliance, safety, reliability and continuous improvement aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
Define and implement the overall maintenance strategy covering preventive, predictive,
breakdown and condition-based maintenance.
Lead, mentor and develop maintenance teams across mechanical, electrical,
instrumentation and utility functions.
Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), TPM, OEE improvement and asset lifecycle
management.
Prepare annual maintenance budgets, CAPEX proposals and cost control plans.
Align maintenance objectives with production, quality, safety and delivery targets.
Plant & Equipment Maintenance
Ensure optimum uptime and performance of CNC machines, fabrication equipment,
foundry machines, shot blasting systems, dust collectors, compressors, utilities and
material handling systems.
Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize
breakdowns.
Analyze root causes of failures (RCA, 8D) and implement permanent corrective actions.
Manage installation, commissioning and stabilization of new machines and facilities.
Utilities & Infrastructure
Oversee maintenance of utilities including power distribution, DG sets, compressors,
HVAC, water systems and ETP/STP.
Ensure uninterrupted utility availability with energy efficiency and conservation
initiatives.
Manage civil, building and infrastructure maintenance activities.
Safety, Statutory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Electricity Act, Boiler Act, Environment norms,
safety standards and all applicable statutory requirements.
Implement safety systems such as LOTO, SOPs, permits, audits and emergency
preparedness.
Coordinate with statutory authorities, auditors and third-party inspectors.
Cost Control & Spares Management
Optimize maintenance costs through planning, standardization and vendor development.
Manage spares planning, inventory optimization and critical spares identification.
Negotiate AMCs, service contracts and vendor agreements.
Continuous Improvement & Digitalization
Drive TPM pillars, Kaizen, Lean initiatives and Six Sigma projects in maintenance.
Implement CMMS/SAP PM effectively for planning, history tracking and analytics.
Monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, downtime, maintenance cost per unit.
Cross-functional Coordination
Work closely with Production, Quality, Projects, Purchase and EHS teams for seamless
operations.
Support audits, customer visits and technical reviews related to maintenance systems.
Required Experience, Skills & Competencies
Proven leadership experience heading maintenance in heavy engineering / machine
building / foundry environments.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and automation systems.
Expertise in TPM, RCM, OEE, root cause analysis and reliability engineering.
Hands-on experience with SAP PM / CMMS.
Strong vendor management, negotiation and project management skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication, people management and stakeholder coordination skills.
