The Hospital Maintenance Executive is responsible for ensuring that all hospital facilities, utilities, and infrastructure systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with healthcare standards. This includes the supervision and execution of maintenance activities related to electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, civil, and other technical services to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Electrical Maintenance
Oversee installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
Ensure proper functioning of:
Main power supply and backup generators (DG sets)
Transformers, panels, and switchgear
UPS systems and emergency lighting
Lighting fixtures and power outlets across departments
Maintain records of electrical load, maintenance schedules, and breakdown reports.
Ensure compliance with local electrical safety standards and statutory requirements.
Coordinate with vendors for AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) services.
B. Plumbing & Water Supply Maintenance
Supervise maintenance of water supply, sanitation, and drainage systems.
Ensure proper functioning of:
Water pumps, pipelines, valves, and fittings
Water tanks, RO plants, and water filtration units
Washrooms, toilets, and drainage systems
Monitor water quality and pressure regularly.
Attend to leakages, blockages, and water wastage issues promptly.
C. Mechanical & HVAC Systems
Oversee maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
Monitor and maintain chillers, AHUs, ducting, and temperature control systems in critical areas (OTs, ICUs, labs).
Ensure energy-efficient operation and regular preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
D. Civil, Carpentry & Other Maintenance
Supervise repair and maintenance of building structures, walls, flooring, and ceilings.
Ensure upkeep of furniture, fixtures, doors, and windows.
Coordinate with contractors for renovation, painting, and minor construction works.
E. Fire Safety & Compliance
Ensure regular inspection and maintenance of fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and hydrant systems.
Conduct periodic safety audits and fire drills.
Ensure compliance with NABH/JCI and local safety regulations.
F. Administrative & Coordination Responsibilities
Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all systems.
Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and performance reports.
Supervise a team of electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other maintenance staff.
Coordinate with other hospital departments to minimize operational disruptions.
Manage inventory of tools, spares, and maintenance materials.
Liaise with external service providers and government authorities when required.
Education:
Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or related field.
