Job Description

A hospital maintenance engineer ensures critical life-support and building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, generators) run safely and efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency repairs, and regulatory compliance, involving troubleshooting, system upgrades, contractor supervision, and detailed record-keeping, often working shifts to keep the hospital operational 24/7. Key Roles & Responsibilities

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:

Performing routine inspections, servicing, and lubrication on boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, generators, and other core equipment.

Troubleshooting & Repairs:

Diagnosing and fixing electrical faults, plumbing leaks, HVAC issues, and other equipment malfunctions using testing instruments.

System Management:

Maintaining and optimizing complex systems like ventilation (ensuring air quality), refrigeration (for medical supplies), and power distribution.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensuring all equipment and maintenance practices meet local, state, and federal healthcare regulations (e.g., Joint Commission standards).

Record Keeping:

Documenting all maintenance activities, faults, and repairs in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Project Assistance:

Helping design and implement modifications to improve equipment efficiency or assisting with new installations.

Contractor & Staff Supervision:

Managing external contractors and potentially supervising junior technical staff, ensuring adherence to site safety protocols.

Emergency Response:

Being on-call or working shifts (nights, weekends, holidays) to respond to urgent equipment breakdowns, as hospitals never close.

Pay: ?12,536.48 - ?20,749.45 per month
