Key Responsibilities

1. Production Equipment Maintenance

Maintain twin-screw & single-screw extruders used in plastic polymer compounding.

Oversee maintenance of gearboxes, barrels, screws, feeders (gravimetric & volumetric), melt pumps, strand / underwater pelletizers.

Perform alignment, bearing replacement, seal changes, coupling maintenance, and lubrication.

Handle breakdown maintenance to minimize production downtime.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Prepare and implement PM schedules for compounding lines and auxiliary equipment.

Conduct routine inspections of wear parts (screws, barrels, liners, knives, die plates).

Track machine condition to predict failures and extend component life.

Maintain PM records, breakdown history, and spare consumption logs.

3. Utilities & Plant Infrastructure

Maintain chillers, cooling towers, thermic fluid heaters (TFH), air compressors, vacuum systems, dust collectors.

Monitor cooling efficiency critical for pellet quality and extrusion stability.

Support energy efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.

4. Safety, Quality & Compliance

Ensure adherence to EHS norms, LOTO, hot work permits, and plant safety rules.

Support ISO / IATF / TPM / 5S / EHS audits.

Ensure maintenance practices do not affect product quality, contamination control, or colour changeover efficiency.

5. Spare Parts & Inventory Control

Plan and manage critical spares such as screws, barrels, bearings, seals, heater bands, couplings.

Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for overhauling, refurbishment, and AMC support.

Assist in budgeting and maintenance cost control.

6. Installation & Improvement Projects

Support installation, commissioning, and relocation of new compounding lines.

Participate in process improvement, debottlenecking, and capacity enhancement projects.

Suggest design and material improvements to reduce wear and downtime.

7. Team Coordination & Reporting

Guide and supervise maintenance technicians and fitters.

Coordinate with production, QA, and electrical teams for planned maintenance and shutdowns.

Prepare daily breakdown reports, MTTR/MTBF analysis, and monthly maintenance summaries
