The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of all plant machinery, utilities, and equipment. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of machine performance to minimize downtime and maximize productivity in the manufacturing setup.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform
preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance
of machines, utilities, and equipment.
Ensure
minimum downtime
of production machinery through quick fault diagnosis and rectification.
Maintain
maintenance logs, checklists, and service records
.
Monitor and maintain
electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
in proper working condition.
Conduct routine
inspection and calibration
of critical equipment.
Plan and execute
preventive maintenance schedules (PMS)
as per manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain adequate inventory of
spare parts, tools, and consumables
.
Coordinate with production and quality departments to schedule maintenance without affecting production.
Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors during repair and installation work.
Ensure compliance with
safety standards, 5S, and environmental norms
during maintenance activities.
Identify opportunities for
machine performance improvement, energy saving, and cost reduction
.
Assist in
installation, commissioning, and modification
of new machines and equipment.
Prepare reports on
machine breakdowns, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions (CAPA)
.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of
mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
.
Hands-on experience with
PLC-based machines
(if applicable).
Ability to read and interpret
technical drawings, circuit diagrams, and manuals
.
Proficiency in
troubleshooting and problem-solving
.
Familiarity with
preventive maintenance software or ERP systems
.
Good coordination, documentation, and communication skills.
Awareness of
safety procedures and statutory maintenance standards
.
Educational Qualification:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech
in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Additional certification in
Maintenance Management / Industrial Safety
preferred.
Experience Required:
3 to 6 years
of experience in
maintenance
within a
manufacturing / engineering / plastic moulding / automotive industry
.
Experience in handling
injection moulding machines, compressors, chillers, and utility systems
is an advantage.
