responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in compliance with safety codes. This role ensures uninterrupted electrical services for critical hospital operations, medical equipment, patient care areas and emergency systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Maintenance
Install, maintain and repair hospital electrical systems, wiring, lighting and power distribution.
Ensure proper functioning of medical electrical outlets, UPS, stabilizers and voltage regulators.
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical connections for HVAC, lifts, boilers, water pumps and sterilization equipment.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to National Electrical Code (NEC) and hospital safety standards.
Conduct preventive maintenance and safety checks for fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and backup generators.
Ensure electrical safety in patient care areas (OTs, ICUs, diagnostic units, labs).
Emergency & Critical Systems
Monitor and maintain hospital backup power systems (DG sets, inverters, UPS).
Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns to minimize disruption in patient care.
Support biomedical engineers in connecting and maintaining sensitive medical equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain logbooks of maintenance, repairs, and preventive schedules.
Report major faults, risks, and suggest improvements to management.
Skills & Qualifications:
ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience (preferably in hospital/healthcare facility).
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and hospital-specific requirements.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, load calculations, and schematics.
Familiarity with hospital-specific systems (UPS, DG sets, HVAC, medical equipment connections).
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
