The Role Mainframe Performance & Capacity Consultant Indicative years of total experience: 8 to 10years Role Description: Principal, Pune is hiring a Mainframe Performance & Capacity Consultant This role would be a key member in the Mainframe hosting space with primary responsibility of managing capacity & workload for optimized performance as this becoming critical for the Mainframe infrastructure & environment. The consultant should be able to provides analysis & reporting related to z/OS performance, resource utilization including DB2 distributed workloads. The role should be able to partner with capacity planners for ensuring expected performance levels by evaluating performance & usage trends, thereby improving reporting capability across Reporting relationship: This role will report to IS Delivery Manager Key Responsibilities: Experience in mainframe capacity planning, right sizing, performance tuning and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks for mission critical large mainframe systems. Ability to design and recommend capacity forecast models, MSU capping, MIPS consumption forecasting Expertise in the use of the performance management tools for the z/OS (WAS, DB2 and MQ) environments as well as the z Architecture (DASD, LPAR, channels, tapes, IPL process, etc.) Expertise in tuning & debugging performance problems for z/OS systems and associated STCs/subsystems/address spaces like WLM, DB2, CICS & application workloads. Should have good understanding on using ELK for analyzing and visualizing SMF records Should have good understanding on SCRT report and HMC tool Work & share performance related problem diagnostics and resolution, monitor system performance, and provide proactive recommendations for tuning. Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge in IBM utilities, tools like Omegamon, Mainview , SYSView , Sysplex. Should have decent hands on experience with IZPCA. Working knowledge of DB2 Internals, fundamentals related to capacity planning & performance tuning. Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, problem solving, administrative activities, monitoring for CICS regions & workload management. Experience in LPARs, Installation, upgrades, patch fixing and problem diagnosis and troubleshooting Strong fundamental knowledge in mainframe infrastructure, hardware & associated peripherals alongwith expertise in understanding of modern mainframe market trends. Good to have: Mainframe automation scripting using REXX/Clist for performance analysis, MXG/SAS scripting knowledge. Knowledge of cost estimates for the mainframes, change process including cost optimization in ongoing production support of the solution.
