Description:
CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Modernization Engineer for our client.
Location: Remote
Duration: 15 months
Duties:
Troubleshoot and resolve batch job failures (abends) and ensure smooth execution of scheduled processes.
Manage Stonebranch UAC scheduling and coordinate SFTP file transfers across systems.
Support system integration and code promotion processes, including RACF, Unix/NAS connectivity, and RTC-based code deployment.
Manipulate datasets to connect development and infrastructure workflows efficiently.
Provide technical leadership in mainframe modernization initiatives, including implementing modernization strategies and roadmaps.
Mentor and guide teams on modernizing legacy mainframe applications and migrating them to z-cloud or other cloud platforms.
Maintain and support legacy technologies including COBOL, CICS, Assembler, SAS, and REXX.
Skills:
Expertise in batch job management, scheduling, and troubleshooting.
Strong hands-on experience with RACF, Unix/NAS connectivity, and RTC-based code promotion.
Deep knowledge of COBOL, CICS, Assembler, SAS, and REXX.
Applied knowledge of mainframe modernization concepts, technologies, and cloud migration strategies.
Ability to technically lead and mentor teams in modernization efforts.
Experience:
Proven experience in mainframe operations, support, and modernization.
Hands-on experience with batch processing, scheduling tools, and system integrations.
Experience with cloud migration of mainframe applications is highly desirable.
Prior experience mentoring teams and providing technical leadership in modernization projects.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $110,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
