Role description

Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 databases (LUW and/or z/OS as applicable). Perform regular database maintenance, patching, and health checks. Monitor database performance and conduct tuning as needed. Implement backup and recovery strategies using native DB2 tools or third-party solutions. Manage database security, user access, and roles. Support disaster recovery planning and testing. Collaborate with application teams to design and optimize DB2 solutions. Perform root cause analysis and resolve DB2 incidents and performance issues. Document procedures, processes, and system configurations. Participate in on-call support rotations if required.

Key Skills Required:

Strong hands-on experience with

IBM DB2 (LUW and/or Mainframe/z/OS environments)

Proficiency in

DB2 installation, configuration, and version upgrades

Experience with

DB2 performance tuning and optimization

Knowledge of

database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning

Familiarity with

high availability setups

(e.g., HADR, TSA, or clustering) Experience in

database security management and compliance

Proficient in

SQL scripting, stored procedures, and query optimization

Exposure to

Linux, UNIX, or Windows environments

for DB2 administration Experience with

monitoring tools

(e.g., IBM Data Server Manager, Tivoli, or equivalent) Good understanding of

ITIL processes

and change management procedures Performance tuning and

Capacity planning

Tools - SYSVIEW , OMEGAMON , RMF for performance monitoring

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of

cloud-based DB2 environments

(IBM Cloud Pak, AWS RDS for DB2, etc.) Scripting skills in

Shell, Python, or PowerShell

Exposure to

DevOps/Automation tools

(Ansible, Jenkins, etc.) Understanding of

other database systems

(Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus Relevant certifications such as

IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2

are preferred
