The Machine Shop Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the machine shop in a gas manufacturing plant. The role involves supervising machinists, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining quality standards, implementing safety practices, and coordinating with the maintenance and production teams to support uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead machinists, operators, and technicians in the machine shop.
Plan, assign, and monitor daily work schedules to meet production goals.
Ensure machining of parts, tools, and equipment as per engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
Inspect completed work to maintain strict quality control and adherence to industry standards.
Coordinate with the production, maintenance, and engineering teams for repair, modification, and fabrication of components.
Maintain machine shop equipment, schedule preventive maintenance, and minimize downtime.
Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, encouraging skill development.
Monitor raw material and tool inventory; raise requisitions as required.
Enforce compliance with safety regulations, ISO standards, and company policies.
Prepare and maintain daily production, manpower, and machine utilization reports.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, cost reduction, and productivity.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
7-10 years of experience in machining operations, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of CNC, VMC, lathe, milling, and other machine shop equipment.
Experience in the gas manufacturing or heavy engineering industry preferred.
Understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining practices.
Knowledge of maintenance practices and tools management.
Excellent leadership, planning, and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and production reporting tools.
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Work Conditions:
Based in a machine shop within a gas manufacturing plant.
Requires extended periods on the shop floor.
Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial environment.
May require shift work depending on production schedules.
